About Us

Founded by Paul Batres in early 2014, the Rhythm Academy of San Jose is a school dedicated to drums and percussion. Our teachers are professional, experienced drummers, passionate about teaching their craft. Whether you are trying to move up in your schools marching band, jazz band or concert band or you just want to be a better player our professional staff of teachers offer a wide range of styles and approaches that is sure to suite your needs.

A mainstay in the bay area drumming scene for over 20 years Paul has made a name for himself as both a player and drum shop manager, managing both Lemmon Percussion and San Jose Pro Drum. As a player, Paul has recorded 5 records and done over 400 shows between The Brian Cline Band and SF rock band RubberSideDown. Paul also was the drummer for the Bay Area cover band Superbad which played over a 100 shows a year. Paul has always had a passion for quality percussion education as proven by the great teaching programs he ran at both drum shops. The Rhythm Academy is another of those great programs offering professional quality drum instruction from one of the top teaching staffs in all of Northern California.
